Watch the video of George Floyd’s family crying for justice. Watch the enforcer of law, break the Moral Law, as he squeezes the life out of George Floyd, as one would squeeze a tube of toothpaste till its contents are emptied. Hear the cries of those video taping:
You got him down, let him breathe at least!…He’s not responsive right now!
And your heart is only left to break. You are left to taste the salty tears that run down your cheek, and anger begins to swell.
We wonder time, and time again, why are our Black Brothers and Sisters oppressed? Why is there such blatant police brutality? When will this all end? When will justice, true justice, be served?
Well, we serve a God whose mercy is balanced with justice. We serve a God who will examine our motives and works and mete us a reward or punishment accordingly. In Jeremiah 17:10 the Great Judge says:
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doing.
In Malachi 4:1 the prophet heralds:
For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
People may be able to circumvent the courts of this earth, but nothing escapes the judgment of God:
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil (Ecclesiastes 12:14).
Friends, I’m longing for that day when justice will be served! I’m longing for the day when God avenges the blood of His innocent ones! And my prayer is that, “[my] life is hid with Christ in God,” (Colossians 3:3), so instead of meeting the wrath of God, I will sit with Jesus in His throne (Revelation 3:21).
So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty [the Ten Commandments]. For [H]e shall have judgement without mercy…” (James 2:12, 13).
Thank You Jesus!
Amen!
