The first command God gave to Adam and Eve is: “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth” (Genesis 1:28). God’s intention is for children to be the fruit of marriage. In 2 Chronicles 28:3, however, we see that Ahaz, the king of Judah, “[burns] his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.” Instead of rededicating his seed to the LORD, he following a pagan practice, cuts off his own life, by murdering his children. For, “children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward” (Psalm 127:3). This practice of destroying children has the same effect as homosexuality and unwarranted abortion.
Let us pray for the infilling of the Holy Spirit to guide us in our decisions. We are God’s children, and our desire should be for God to restore His image in us.
Amen.
