Jesus is Coming Again

Jesus is coming again.

In his article, “Pacifist Jehovah’s Witnesses now banned in Russia as ‘extremists'”, (2017), author, John Burger, delineates the Russian government’s ban on Jehovah’s Witnesses and the imminent ban on other Christian denominations like, Seventh-day Adventists. Burger employs a selection of details to elucidate this violation of freedom of religion. The author purposes to inform the masses in his Catholic circle and followers of his articles that the Russian government is taking a stance on all other Christian religions that are against the Russian Orthodox Church. Ultimately, by use of allusion to Enlightenment ideals and America’s first Amendment, Burger reveals how the Russian government is desperate to unite all Christians under one denomination.

is a 20-year veteran of the Catholic press, having served as a reporter for Catholic New York, newspaper of the Archdiocese of New York, and news editor of the National Catholic Register. He now free-lances for a variety of publications, including Catholic San Francisco, Aleteia.org, Catholic World Report, and Human Life Review. He contributed a chapter to the book When Faith Goes Viral: 11 Success Stories of the New Evangelization from Alabama to Vladivostok (Crossroad, 2013).

Now, Friends, when we hear of these violations of freedom of religion we must, “lift up [our] heads; for [our] redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:12-28). Jesus foretells the disciples that, “but before all these, [nations and kingdoms] shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake” (Luke 21:12). The time of persecution has already come, and in just a matter of moments the national Sunday Law, prohibiting worship on the Sabbath, Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, will come.

We ought to make our calling and election sure for the Savior is fast approaching. Like John the Revelator, we should say, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20).
