24 in 24: 24 Things I have learned in my 24 years

Time is the talent God gives humanity to be transformed into His character; time engenders experience and experience wisdom. So here are 24 gems I have gleaned over these 24 years.

1. God always prepares us for the position He puts us in.
2. Greatness is not born. It’s built.
3. We are not immune to influence.
4. Our day may not have started right, but it doesn’t have to continue left.
5. Not every true friendship is forever.
6. Never make your inferiors feel inferior.
7. There is a time to speak. There is a time to be silent. Knowing the time requires Holy Spirit discernment.
8. Freedom is not free.
9. Success is when action meets intention.
10. Efficiency: doing the best without doing it all.
11. The content of our conversation reveals the content of our cogitations, which reveals the content of our character.
12. The right thing at the wrong time is a premature blessing. The wrong thing at the right time prepares us for the blessing.
13. Dispel doubt. Drive determination. Discharge duty.
14. Never sacrifice empathy for efficiency.
15. There is an art to science and a science to art.
16. Seek not to be first, but seek God first.
17. Time management takes time.
18. When we hold our peace, we give God the chance to speak.
19. Do what we can, and God will do what we can’t.
20. When God is not making a way, He’s preserving us in spite of the way. Both are miracles.
21. When tempted to worry, choose to worship.
22. Change requires consistency.
23. Individual decisions have interpersonal consequences.
24. Often, it’s not how we start. It’s how we continue.

Let us continue to “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).
