Silence Speaks

What is spoken in silence oft may never be said with speech. For silence speaks. It speaks of character. It speaks of dignity. It speaks of thought. It speaks of Jesus.

Consider the crucible of Christ. From night trial to day trial; Pilate to Herod; Herod to Pilate; and Pilate to the people, we see great constraint of our Savior’s tongue (Luke 22:54 – 23:46).

O, that today we would learn of the Savior. If we too became master of the muscle prone to muster thoughts that need not be sensed, how much more joy would there be!

Not that we must always be silent. For if silence is incessant, its weight would be normalized. But, “[t]o every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). And many a time the clamor of the world and the proclivity to respond overpowers the sensation of silence’s season.

But let us pray as did Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36 – 44), and when tried, speak only the necessary word, giving room to silence.

-Thank You Jesus!
