The world has been becoming supersaturated with darkness, evil, and everything contrary to the image of God. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of Babylon’s fornication; we have divorced our first love, and lusted after the flesh (Revelation 14:9; 2:4; 1 John 2:16). In fact, many of us who have a knowledge of light have sought to camouflage with world, because being distinct is uncomfortable. Some of us, in an attempt to evangelize the world, have been incorporating worldly practices into our lives. But, the world is looking for something they cannot already find. They are looking for a people who will unequivocally stand for truth. Truth is what makes us free. So what is truth? “[Jesus is] the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Through Christ alone, we are free from the bondage of sin, even as Isaac was born of the free woman (Galatians 4:28-31). We do not need to embellish the gospel, or make it look pretty. Hebrews 4:12 declares:
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The gospel can cut, but it leads us to the Mighty Healer. The gospel can point out sin, but it leads us to the Sin Cleanser. The gospel is complete, and God merely calls on us to share this message of truth to a dying and dark world. We are the light of the world, and with the boldness of Jesus we must share this message, however, unkosher we may seem.
